How does a phone upgrade work?

So you’re interested in the latest and greatest in phone technology? Us too. That’s why we made a super simple and accessible upgrade program. You probably still have a few questions, so we’ve taken the ones we get asked the most and answered them for you. Almost like we read your mind.

Getting a free Visible phone

So, How do I get started?

This is an easy one. Upgrade programs enable you to always have an up-to-date device. You’ll usually trade in your old one (and often pay a bit on top) to get a shiny new one. All providers have different criteria and processes, but for the most part, you’ll order your new device, get it set up, then have a grace period to send in your old one.

At Visible, our upgrade program is available whenever you’ve bought an eligible device from us and financed it through Affirm. You’ll next be able to upgrade once you've paid off 50% of that device. We’ll email you to let you know when it’s time, you go to the website, finance a new phone of the same brand (iPhone, Samsung, Pixel), send us back your old one within 14 days (provided it's in good working condition), and we'll pay off the remaining balance of your old loan. Voila! That way it’s simple and affordable to always have the latest and greatest technology.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

This depends on who your provider is, but you can usually find that information in your online account. With Visible it’s easy—we’ll send you an email when it’s time, or you can log into your account at any time, navigate to your dashboard and click Learn More for upgrades.

Is there an upgrade fee?

Some carriers do charge a fee to upgrade phones. You’ll need to check with your carrier for specifics about how much it would cost you to upgrade. But if you’re with Visible, don’t worry. We don’t charge any upgrade fees.

How does the Visible upgrade program work?

  1. Finance an eligible device with Affirm from the Visible website
  2. Activate your device on Visible
  3. Pay off at least 50% of your Affirm loan balance
  4. Finance a new device with Affirm
  5. Send us your current phone in good working condition within 14 days of your upgrade
