Happy Birthday, Connection Protection!

Celebrating 1 year of providing wireless service to Visible members experiencing job hardships

Connection Protection is celebrating its 1 year anniversary! In 2023, Visible introduced this program to support our members who are experiencing job hardships – today, we’re proud to say we’ve helped over 2,500 people across the nation faced with challenges related to job loss and insecurity.

Visible is the first all-digital wireless service in the U.S., offering unlimited talk, text, and data, powered by Verizon, with 5G included. We introduced Connection Protection to expand on our mission to be our members’ biggest supporters by offering 3 months of wireless service with costs covered by Visible. This program is in partnership with Empower Work, a national nonprofit dedicated to building healthier and more equitable workplaces. In addition to 3 months of service, Connection Protection participants have access to Empower Work’s job coaching and resources, including strategizing on interviews and applications.

In today’s world, having a smartphone is not a luxury, it’s hugely important for most people – we know this is especially true while on the hunt for a new job. From looking for openings, submitting an application, or taking a virtual interview, having a smartphone and wireless access are tremendous assets for finding a job, which is an important step in achieving economic mobility.

Through Connection Protection, Visible stepped up to alleviate stressors during periods of employment insecurity. According to a survey or the program’s participants, in just the first year of the program:

• 50% of participants had at least 1 job interview
• 75% of participants stayed connected with potential employers
• 94% of participants said they’ve experienced less financial stress throughout the last year  

To show our continued support for members, we're extending Connection Protection into 2024 to ensure the program remains a support system to help connect people when they need it most. All Visible members are eligible for Connection Protection once every 3 years, and will continue to receive ongoing support from Empower Work.
