LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Visible
Systems Corporation announced today that it has filed a notice of opposition to
the attempt by Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) to trademark the name "3-D
Visible Enterprise."
Visible Systems Corporation
has been a leader for over 20 years in enterprise modeling and applications
management software. Visible's software is used in government and commercial
software and related management systems. Besides the name "Visible",
the company uses commercially a whole family of related marks.
Today's action at the
Patents and Trademarks Office in Washington, DC, follows Visible Systems' lawsuit
in federal court in Boston last week against Unisys for trademark infringement
and related claims.
Visible's CEO and Founder,
George Cagliuso, commented: "We have worked hard and invested considerable
resources for years in building our family of trademarks, our Visible products
and services, and our corporate identity. We believe it is important for a
small company like Visible to continue to use its trademarks and conduct
commerce without confusion in the marketplace".
Mr. Cagliuso continued,
"We feel that our approach of making applications and software 'Visible'
to senior management in order to improve accountability and performance
continues to resonate among our customers. We believe Unisys shares this
perception although at the expense of confusing the marketplace by the use of
our trademark name."
